Royal Poinciana

I would like to plant a Royal Poinciana tree in Los Angeles. Will it grow? Where can I Get One? Thanks!?

I live in the Hollywood Hills and never freezes here. I'm having trouble deciding if the tree is available in Los Angeles and also whether it will survive. Thanks for your help!

I never saw a Flame Tree here in Southern California, even in the Arboretum in Arcadia, but is supposed to be grown here. I've been assuming that they are sensitive to cold or something. Ha you called UCLA? They have a small arboretum and agricultural extension. The Arboretum in Arcadia also should be useful for you as your area of Sunset is not very different from ours. Red Bird of Paradise, which is not at all like the Strelitzia is the flower of our city, is a plant similar to the Royal Poinciana Caesalpinia. It grows well in hot and cold deserts east of here, and has more finely cut leaves. The flowers are small, pannicles but the flowers are so colorful and bright. I think it's a Beautiful Plant of myself, and you may need less water. If you are looking for strategic effect, kaffirboom then a coral or a tree will grow well here, and have a similar growth habit with large patches of reddish orange. Kaffirbooms has leaves like of the (fictional) Deku Tree in The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker. I forget what the coral tree leaves appear, but the pea-Like Flowers are, so I imagine something legumes.
